RULES OF THE COMPETITION
The competition is divided into 8 categories, according to this table.
- born in 2014 and later (up to and including 10 years of age)

- born in 2013 and 2012 (from 11 years of age up to and including 12 years of age)
- 6-8 minutes
- free program, compositions of different character and technical content
- born in 2011 and 2010 (from 13 years of age up to and including 14 years of age)
- 8-11 minutes
- free program, compositions of different character and technical content
- born in 2009 and 2008 (from 15 years of age up to and including 16 years of age)
- 10-13 minutes
- free program, compositions of different character and technical content
- born in 2007 and 2006 (from 17 years of age up to and including 18 years of age)
- 11-15 minutes
- free program, compositions of different character and technical content
- born from 2000 up to 2010 (from 14 years of age up to and including 24 years of age)
- 2-4 own pieces of different character and style
- total length of 5-10 minutes
- free program
With the application the competitors have to send one video without cuts of the applied program for the preselection.
5 competitors will be selected and invited to the live final performance on the evening of Saturday 25th January 2025.

With the application the competitors have to send the scores of the applied program for the preselection.
5-8 competitors will be selected and invited to the live final performance (compositions may be performed by the composer personally or by another guitarist) on the evening of Sunday 26th January 2025.

- The competition is divided into 9 categories, according to the table above. The reference date for the age calculation is 1st of January 2025.
- The competition is international and public. The competitor agrees that their first name, last name and photos/videos of the competition can be published on various channels for the purposes of the Guitar Styria association.
- After the application, every contestant in the 1st – 5th Category may change/add/extract one of the applied pieces of the program as long as the program stays within the propositions after the change. Any change of this kind have to be announced to the administration at latest 1 hour before the performance.
- The 6th, 7th and 8th category take place in 2 Stages. In the 1st stage the Jury will make a preselection of competitors which will be invited to the 2nd stage to perform live and compete for the final decision. The compositions in 1st stage of the 6th and 7th Category may be the same or different from those performed in the 2nd stage. The compositions in 1st stage of the 8th Category must be the same as those performed in the 2nd stage.
- The compositions in the final of the 8th category may be performed by the composer personally or by another guitarist.
- All competitors in the 1st – 7th category are obligated to perform two or more pieces of different character and style.
- The competitors of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th categories are obligated to play at least 1 piece by heart.
- Program length will be timed from the beginning of the performance (first note) to the end of the performance (last note).
- If there are less than five (5) participants in a category, the organizer has the right to cancel the competition in this category. In this case, the registration fee will be refunded. Any other possible costs will not be refunded.
- The jury of the competition is international, appointed by the Organizing board of the Festival.
- Every category will have a jury who will give points to the competitors. The jury members give points from 50 – 100.
- Awards for points are divided in 4 categories:
– Gold: 90-100 points
– Silver: 80 – 89,99 points
– Bronze: 70 – 79,99 points
– Acknowledgement: 50 – 69,99 points - The jury member whose students or family members participate in the competition may not award points to those participants.
- All the Award winners will receive certificates with number of points won.
- If the competitor performs longer than the allowed time, the head of the jury has the right to stop the candidate. However, there is no point deduction for playing too long. If a candidate plays too short, this leads to a reduction in points.
- If two or more competitors have the same number of points, the advantage goes to the younger competitor.
- Jury decisions are final and cannot be changed.
- After the last competition day of each category, the official points lists will be published publicly.
- Prizes and certificates will be awarded in the evening at the end of each competition day. Prizes and certificates have to be collected personally at the evening event. Those will not be sent per post afterwards.
- If the competitor does not perform or does not show up at the competition, the organizer is not obligated to refund the registration fee.
- The competitors are obligated to send a payment confirmation of the registration fee with the application.
- The audience is allowed to film or photograph the competition as long as it does not disturb the performer. If an audience member disturbs the live performance, they will be asked to leave the concert hall.
- The competitors will be arranged into their respective categories in alphabetical order by surname. The starting letter will be the same in all categories and chosen randomly one day after the application deadline.
- By applying, competitors accept the rules and terms of the competition.

Confirmation of payment of the registration fee must be included with the application.
